Early Life and Education Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen, better known as Jeff Bezos, was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His mother, Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, was a teenager at the time of his birth, and his biological father, Ted Jorgensen, was a bike shop owner. After his parents divorced, his mother married Miguel Bezos, a Cuban immigrant who adopted Jeff and gave him his surname. From a young age, Bezos displayed a keen interest in technology and science.
